Week 1 in the apartment...

Well, it's our first week in the apartment and I must admit that life on the second floor isn't quite as bad as I had been anticipating. After the first couple days we finally convinced 2 of the 3 dogs that no, the open backs of the steps will not eat them alive and yes, they can go up the steps on their own without us having to carry them (small victories!). I also have learned that being on the 2nd floor and in between 2 other apartments will allow us to "mooch" off other people's heat, we haven't had ours on yet and it is a toasty 69 degrees in here...woohoo! :) So, besides the 5am trips outside standing at the end of a leash saying "go potty, go potty, GO POTTY!"...life is good :)

Gobble 'til you wobble!

...and that we did! We had a great Thanksgiving day we are so blessed! JB's parents had our whole family (my parents and sister's family too) over for the day. It was so great for us all to spend the afternoon together....19 people makes for a fun time! We are going to hit the sack early (nothing new really, LOL) and rest up for the big move tomorrow!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Busy Day!

So....maybe we are too boring to blog, but that's not going to stop me! :) Today was a full day of packing and moving all the "outside stuff" to the storage unit. We finally broke down and realized that no matter how hard we tried there would be no way to fit a 3,000 sq ft house into a 600 sq ft apartment! I feel like we have a good jump on things and of course the organizer in me has two rooms staged...one for apartment stuff and one for storage unit stuff, I just can't help myself! We get the apartment keys on Wednesday and move day is Friday!

Frustrations and some Football

Many of you know that just recently and kind of on a whim we decided to stick a "For Sale by Owner" sign in our front yard, and low and behold, less than 2 weeks later our house was sold! This decision kind of dates back to when we started our house search back in the spring of 2008. At the time we had our hearts set on a little mini farm of sorts, but after months of looking (at some real dumps) and finding nothing we settled on our second choice location in a historic government house by the river instead. I love it because it literally takes me 3 minutes to get to work, but in the back of our minds the thought of what could have been was always looming.

So....here we go again! We close on our house in 2 weeks and are moving Thanksgiving weekend into an apartment while we look for our "forever home" this time with not just 2, but 3 dogs! Needless to say, I am not looking forward to the experience...We have literally looked at everything in our price range that is on the market to date, and it truly never ceases to amaze me the absolutely disgusting pieces of junk that are for sale out there (and what people are asking for them!) From the "do-it-yourself" deck removals (ripping off half the siding and somehow thinking that no one will notice) to the "interesting" decor choices (think your great-grandmother joining households with a backwoods hunter).

Today we went for a third look at a house that we were seriously considering, but the final test was for JB to meet the neighbors. I have to be thankful that at least he didn't go knocking on doors wearing his Russian fur hat, camo shorts, and hunting boots! but the news wasn't good, who ever heard of a neighborhood in the country where the neighbord didn't like farm animals?....back to square one! We aren't even in the apartment yet and I'm already trying to think of a way to get out! Atleast we are home for today with our fire in the fireplace, our dogs in our laps, and football on the TV :)

Too boring to blog?

Here goes, my first blog....JB and I were sitting at our usual posts today, our computers in the basement, with a fire going in the fireplace and the three dogs running around barking at each other like a bunch of idiots, when he looked at me and said "you should start a blog for us." I told him he was crazy, we're too boring to blog! I love the idea of blogging and must admit I am constantly checking on all of my friends blogs, but they have kids and always have something to write about, we on the other hand are just two boring "DINKS" as my mom liked to call us. JB said, "well, write a blog about how boring we are"....that's a thought I guess.
